Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, seeks an Engineering and Operations Systems Engineer to deliver systems engineering for asset management across multiple centers. The role emphasizes structured modeling of interactions among equipment, infrastructure, and enabling systems, with a focus on data integrity and lifecycle recapitalization.

You will develop roadmaps, collaborate with customers and stakeholders, and support mission-critical operations onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q level security clearance.
• Knowledge of systems engineering development tools, techniques, and management.
• Ability to partner with customers and technically direct the efforts of a cross-disciplinary team.
• Ability to review end-to-end work processes.
• Ability to work closely with customers and suppliers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Model interactions among equipment, infrastructure, and enabling systems to ensure integrated solutions.
• Document and track performance requirements; develop acceptance criteria and verification plans.
• Apply risk/opportunity evaluations to assess equipment health and recapitalization needs.
• Develop and maintain a rolling 5-year recapitalization roadmap aligned with budgets.
• Identify and coordinate infrastructure improvements needed for capability and readiness.
• Ensure data integrity and audit trails across assets and systems.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, owners, maintenance, facilities, finance, and leadership.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Perform high-level analysis and verification of system functionality.
• Interface with customers and implementation teams to ensure deliverables meet needs.
• Develop deployment and training materials for handover and sustainment.
