Job summary

TCS is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Ground based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program in Huntsville, AL. This in‑office role focuses on developing and sustaining the GMD system with modern tools and collaborative teams.

The ideal candidate has a STEM degree with multiple years of experience, strong systems engineering, and proficiency with DOORS, Cameo and MBSE, plus the ability to travel up to 10% and obtain an active DoD secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years, or Master’s with 6+, or PhD with 4+ years.
• Solid understanding of systems engineering processes and principles.
• Experience with software development and requirement verification.
• Experience with DOORS, Cameo and MBSE.

Responsibilities

Job Description

TCS is searching for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our strong team of Engineers supporting our Ground based Midcourse Defense GMD customer in Huntsville AL The GMD program is a portion of the Missile Defense Agency’s MDA system to protect the US and our allies from ballistic missile attacks The selected candidate will use modern tools to further the development and sustainment of the GMD system This is an in office position Remote work is not available

Essential Functions

The selected Sr Principal Systems Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System GWS program as an individual contributor on the Systems Engineering Team for the Ground Fire Control GFC product This role is responsible for developing and assisting in the requirements process that directly supports the design and development of GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency MDA The selected candidate should thrive in a fast paced work environment with high expectations significantly diverse assignments and collaborativeteams comprised of all experience levels

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in a STEM Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience or a Masters Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience or 4 years of experience with a PhD in STEM Must have a solid understanding of system engineering processes and principles along with proven experience in applying them to develop product solutions Must have experience with SW development and the verification of requirements Must have experience with DOORS Cameo and MBSE Previous experience working on a large scale missile defense system like GMD Applicants must possess good communication skills Applicants must demonstrate the ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products presentations and discussions Must be able to support an in person closed area work environment Applicants must have a current active in scope DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start Ability and willingness to travel up to 10 of the time to support business needs

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics Battle Management or Fire Control experience MBSE or INCOSE Certifications Experience developing System Engineer artifacts including specifications Interface Control Documents Use Cases System Architecture Descriptions Trade Studies and similar documents
