Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead and mentor a team building software for autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles. You will drive lifecycle processes, architecture, and design reviews in a fast-paced Agile environment.

The role requires 15+ years of experience in Windows/Linux app development, strong OO design, and expertise in C#/C++, or Python. Travel locally may be required. Attractive compensation and benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in CS/EE/Math/Physics or equivalent.
• 15+ years in Windows or Linux app development with OOD.
• Experience with formal SDLC/STLC and design patterns.
• Proficiency in C#/.NET, C++, C, or Python.
• Unit testing and debugging proficiency; Agile process management.
• Willingness to travel locally (Occasionally).

Responsibilities

• Defines software life cycle development processes and requirements.
• Supervises and oversees software development for programs.
• Leads internal and external software design reviews.
• Creates software design documentation per process requirements.
• Ensures coding standards and process improvements are followed.
• Delivers work on time within budget and schedule.
• Derives architecture and algorithms from requirements.
• Collaborates with multiple dev teams and reports to management.
• Mentors engineers and transfers knowledge.
• Acts independently on new or special assignments.
