Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking a Senior Principal Security Engineer to design, implement, and operate secure systems while guiding threat mitigation strategies. The role emphasizes incident response leadership, IAM program expansion, and collaboration with Development, IT, and business stakeholders to embed security across the lifecycle.

You will mentor engineers, drive security architecture across infrastructure and applications, and stay ahead of evolving threats.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10+ years in IT/cybersecurity OR an associate degree with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• 4–7 years of hands-on experience with technologies such as Azure AD, CI/CD platforms, MFA, SSO, IaC Security, SOAR, SCA, DLP, EDR, and VMs.
• Additional experience with IAM, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and secure development practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, operate, and maintain security solutions across systems, networks, and applications.
• Lead complex incident response and problem-solving across teams.
• Develop security controls and automate processes to improve visibility and response capabilities.
• Lead IAM initiatives including authentication, authorization, provisioning, and lifecycle management.
• Mentor and guide junior cybersecurity professionals and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
