Job summary

Consumers Energy, Michigan's largest energy provider, seeks a Senior Principal Security Engineer. The role focuses on architecting secure systems, leading incident response, and maturing IAM across the enterprise.

Hybrid work with on-site days in Jackson, MI, and relocation support for qualified candidates. The ideal candidate will mentor a cybersecurity team, collaborate with Development and IT, and stay ahead of threats with strategic security initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in cybersecurity, CS, IT or related field with 10+ years in IT/cybersecurity.
• 4–7 years with AD, Azure AD, IAM, CI/CD, DLP, EDR, firewalls, and security tooling.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills; able to guide teams across functions.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and operate secure systems and defense technologies.
• Lead incident response and drive long-term corrective actions across teams.
• Develop security controls aligning with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Mentor cybersecurity professionals and shape strategic security direction.
• Drive IAM initiatives: authentication, authorization, provisioning, lifecycle.
• Collaborate with IT, Development, and business to embed security in lifecycle.
• Automate security where possible using SOAR and scripting.
