Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Sr Principal RF/Spectrum Systems Engineer to support CUAS engineering for the FAA. You will lead research, testing, evaluation, and spectrum analysis of advanced UAS detection and mitigation technologies in active airport environments.

The role bridges hands-on RF engineering, systems analysis, and policy development to influence FAA advisory circulars and aviation safety standards. Expect high-impact work with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, Mechanical or related technical discipline (ABET acceptable for non-US degrees).
• 10+ years of progressive RF, radar, or spectrum management engineering experience.
• Experience using spectrum analyzers and RF test equipment for FCC/NTIA compliance.
• Ability to conduct open-air RF/spectrum data collection and analyze results.

Responsibilities

• Lead RF & radar testing across multiple frequency bands and waveforms.
• Plan, execute and oversee CUAS RD/T&E activities and evaluation frameworks.
• Manage vendor systems during deployment, data collection, and teardown.
• Develop selection criteria for UAS platforms and performance metrics for evaluations.
• Document RD/T&E activities to support FAA guidance and safety standards.
