Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks a hands-on Senior RF/DSP Engineer to expand RF detection and classification capabilities of Counter-UAS products.

You will analyze wideband IQ recordings, characterize waveform properties, and design experiments, turning insights into production-ready C++ code. This role is individual-contributor; you will implement DSP algorithms, validate them with real RF data, and work with RF, FPGA, embedded software, and test teams.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
• Substantial experience in RF, communications, radar, EW, or similar signal-processing systems.
• Strong DSP fundamentals: sampling/aliasing, DDC, FIR/IIR, FFT, synchronization, modulation, channel coding.
• Proven ability to work with real complex-IQ data and produce production-ready code.
• Proficiency writing production-quality C++ in Linux and building automated tests.

Responsibilities

• Analyze wideband complex-IQ recordings from known and unfamiliar RF systems.
• Characterize bandwidth, timing, modulation, synchronization, and spectrum behavior.
• Design controlled experiments to isolate transmitter behavior and waveform structure.
• Develop DSP algorithms for burst detection, demodulation, classification, and tracking.
• Implement and optimize production DSP in C++ and validate with real RF data.
• Document observations, assumptions, and limitations; participate in technical reviews.
