Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Linthicum, MD, seeks a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Air-to-Ground) to join our SEIT team on major development programs. This on-site role develops radar architectures and leads requirements analysis to ensure traceability from mission needs.

The ideal candidate will model with MATLAB/Python/C/C++, manage system specifications, and drive tests validating radar performance. Secret clearance and SAP access are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience in Radar Air-to-Ground applications and modeling in MATLAB/Python/C/C++.
• Experience with radar/RF systems, systems engineering, modeling or integration.
• Knowledge of air‑to‑ground radar concepts and MBSE/tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop radar system architectures for air‑to‑ground missions (SAR, ISAR, GMTI/T, Targeting, Weather, Sea Surface Search).
• Lead requirements analysis, allocation, and flow‑down to subsystems.
• Own and maintain system/subsystem specifications and ICDs with traceability to mission needs.
• Perform radar performance modeling (SNR, detection range, resolution, clutter).
• Plan and execute lab, field, and flight tests to verify radar performance.
• Prepare technical material for reviews and customer briefings.
