Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Senior Principal IC Design Engineer to lead PLL and clocking system development for mmWave RF applications. You will drive design across CMOS FinFET and SiGe, collaborating with RF/SOC teams to define requirements and ensure successful tape-out.

You will mentor engineers, optimize trade-offs for speed, noise and power, and contribute to production-ready analog blocks and test plans for validation and yield improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in high-speed PLL design and LO generation for RF/mmWave.
• Expert in loop design for phase noise, jitter, spur, area and power optimization.
• Proficient in PLLs & clock distribution for wireless and wireline.
• Experience with clock domain synchronization in multi-PLL systems.
• Understanding of device physics for process selection and performance optimization.
• Proficient in mixed-mode/RF modeling, simulation, and verification (MATLAB, Spectre, SystemVerilog, AMS).
• Extensive PLL silicon characterization and debugging experience.
• Experience designing analog/RF building blocks (amplifiers, filters, mixers, multipliers).
• U.S. citizen or eligible national/permanent resident required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and integration of PLLs and clock distribution in advanced CMOS FinFET and SiGe technologies.
• Utilize Spectre and AMS flows to develop high-performance PLL circuits.
• Collaborate with RF and SOC architects to define PLL requirements for system specs.
• Oversee layout, integration, floorplanning and tape-out readiness.
• Develop test plans with validation and product engineers for bring-up and yield.
• Research and implement fundamental analog blocks to improve performance.
• Mentor junior engineers on best analog design practices.
