Job summary

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer, Platform Services, to design and evolve the end-to-end architecture for Disney’s streaming platform services layer. You will own API gateways, edge services, and cross‑service authentication to enable speed, scale, and reliability across Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu.

12+ years of software engineering experience.
Experience designing, building, and operating platform or infrastructure services at scale.
Strong distributed systems expertise and leadership across large teams.

Responsibilities

Architect, implement, and own the platform services layer (API gateway, edge services, auth, rate limiting, tracing).
Define and enforce standards, ADRs, design docs, and golden-path templates for enterprise adoption.
Translate architecture into executable roadmaps with clear milestones and ownership.
Lead investigations into production issues, improve reliability, and implement resiliency patterns.
Support AI-ready platform primitives and collaborate with AI/ML teams to accelerate workloads.
Mentor senior engineers and influence Directors/VPs with architecture reviews and decisions.
