Job summary

Stellarus seeks a Sr. Principal Architect to shape reusable services and drive platform strategy across payer, provider, pharma, and partner workflows.

You will be the technical authority for architecture across the microservices, APIs, and event-driven components, guiding engineers while balancing build-vs-buy and vendor integrations. You will work closely with leadership to promote innovation, continuous learning, and production-ready designs, with a strong hands-on code and system-design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering, application architecture, platform engineering, or related technical experience.
• Extensive experience setting application architecture direction for enterprise-scale distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, internal platforms, marketplace platforms, or large-scale modernization.
• Expert knowledge of microservices, API ecosystems, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design, integration strategy, and platform services.
• Strong hands-on engineering background; comfortable discussing code structure, service design, API contracts, data modeling, testing, deployment, and production failure modes.
• Experience designing and operating microservices and event-driven systems in a cloud environment (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP transferable).
• Strong understanding of TypeScript, Node.js, APIs, React-based platforms, containerized workloads, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with domain-driven design, service decomposition, integration architecture, and tradeoffs between shared/product/customer-specific services.
• Practical experience with build-versus-buy decisions, vendor integration, platform consolidation, marketplace capabilities, or creating reusable platform services.
• Strong API and data architecture judgment (REST, OpenAPI, event contracts, PostgreSQL, analytics handoffs, authorization, isolation, auditability).
• Proven ability to lead complex technical decision-making across engineering, product, security, infrastructure, operations, and executives.

Responsibilities

• Shape how Stellarus designs reusable services and integrates strategic vendors.
• Apply AI-assisted development patterns and turn platform strategy into usable systems for engineering teams.
• Serve as the technical authority for application architecture across the platform with enterprise-architecture overlap.
• Oversee build-versus-buy decisions, vendor integration, and creation of reusable marketplace capabilities.
• Lead architecture standards and decision frameworks influencing engineering execution without formal management authority.
• Mentor staff and principal-level engineers and architects.
• Collaborate with leadership to foster high-performing teams and continuous learning.
• Balance in-office collaboration with the company’s hybrid workplace model.
