Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise Development LP seeks a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical architecture and design for complex networking systems from concept through production and deployment.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across programs, driving cooling, packaging, reliability, and manufacturability while mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional reviews.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 10+ years electromechanical product development.
• MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience in networking/server/storage domains is a plus.
• Extensive chassis development and high-density electronic assemblies experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical development of complex networking systems from concept to production
• Provide technical leadership across programs on architecture, packaging, manufacturability
• Evaluate cooling tech including liquid cooling for future roadmaps
• Drive system-level decisions balancing performance, cost, schedule, reliability
• Hands-on engineering: CAD reviews, tolerance analysis, prototype evaluation, root-cause
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with Electrical, Thermal, SI, Reliability, Manufacturing
• Develop system specifications, design guidelines, validation plans, engineering standards
• Maintain mechanical design standards and engineering methodologies
• Identify risks and drive mitigation plans through the lifecycle
• Support customer escalations and field issues with troubleshooting
• Lead supplier engagements for design reviews and tooling strategies
