Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise in California seeks a Sr. Principal Hardware Engineer to lead the design and development of next‑generation networking hardware.

You will drive architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, bring‑up, validation and production, with an onsite work model. This role requires 10+ years of hands‑on hardware/board design experience, mastery of high‑speed 100G/200G signaling, FPGA design, SI/PI, and liquid cooling for dense, power‑intense boards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands‑on hardware/board design experience with complex, high‑performance electronic systems.
• 10+ years with high‑speed 100G/200G‑class signaling or comparable high‑bandwidth interfaces.
• Experience designing high‑power, extremely dense PCBs and electronic systems.
• Hands‑on FPGA design experience and ability to independently implement FPGA‑based solutions.
• Strong knowledge of SI/PI principles.
• Experience with scale‑up systems, HPC, networking, AI/ML, accelerators, or similarly demanding architectures.
• Experience with liquid cooling systems and liquid‑cooled hardware architectures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end hardware design lifecycle from system architecture to production.
• Lead design of high‑performance, high‑density circuit boards with demanding constraints.
• Design systems with high‑speed signaling and 100G/200G interfaces.
• Develop and review complex schematics, power architectures, clocking, interfaces, and board architectures.
• Design and develop FPGA solutions including device selection, configuration, and integration.
• Perform SI and PI analysis and drive mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate on liquid‑cooling architectures and high bandwidth interconnects.
• Identify technical risks early and drive practical solutions to meet aggressive schedules.
