Job summary

Astera Labs in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer - Field Applications to lead customer engagements and translate system requirements into reliable designs. This onsite role focuses on Ethernet and PCIe products, with collaboration across sales, product management, design, validation, and operations.

You will own escalations, develop debug plans, and mentor engineers while helping customers deploy next-generation AI infrastructure at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 12–20 years of experience in field applications, system engineering, or related domains.
• Deep hands-on experience with Ethernet and/or PCIe systems, high-speed SerDes, link training, interoperability, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of physical-layer concepts, signal integrity, board bring-up, lab instrumentation, and system-level debug.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements with strategic customers from architecture definition through deployment and production support.
• Develop and execute system-level debug plans for Ethernet and PCIe connectivity issues, including link training, interoperability, compliance, and performance.
• Mentor Field Applications Engineers and contribute to scalable processes for customer onboarding and product adoption.
