Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer in Structural Engineering to lead nacelle repair design and analysis. You will provide expert repair solutions, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional teams to minimize aircraft downtime while meeting FAA/EASA requirements.

This onsite role in Chula Vista, CA offers relocation and requires deep technical leadership, strong decision-making, and collaboration with airline customers on complex engineering issues.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years experience or an advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Repair analysis of metallic and/or composite aircraft structures.
• Knowledge of maintenance, repair, overhaul and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of load path and hand analysis methods.
• Expertise in FEA using Patran/Nastran.

Responsibilities

• Perform and approve structural repair stress analyses per FAA/EASA standards.
• Develop analytical methods for complex repair issues and airline needs.
• Provide guidance on repair design and rapid engineering judgments.
• Define strategies for repair analysis and productivity gains.
• Develop standards and tools to improve engineering efficiency.
• Lead responses to customer inquiries and deliver approved repairs.
