Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Chula Vista, CA seeks a Senior Stress Engineer (Onsite) to perform repair stress analysis on nacelle hardware and ensure FAA/EASA compliance. You will guide junior engineers, mentor teams, and coordinate with Airworthiness for sign-off.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5 years of aerospace experience, proficiency in Patran/Nastran, and strong communication. Onsite position with relocation support and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
• Experience in aerospace
• Experience with repair analysis of aircraft metallic and/or composite structures
• Knowledge of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in the commercial aircraft industry
• Experience of load path, load balance, free body diagram and experience in classical hand analysis methods used in Aerospace structural analysis
• Experience in finite element analysis of aircraft structure using Patran/Nastran (soln's 101, 106, 111)
• Experience with technical writing

Responsibilities

• Perform repair stress analysis and develop analytical methods for complex technical issues requiring creativity and ingenuity in supporting airline operational requirements, formal certification reports, and design changes
• Should be able to make quick engineering judgments and perform margin explorations for repair solutions based on certification analysis, on various nacelle components for different programs
• Apply advanced structural analysis principles to support repair design development on metallic and composite structures
• Prepare RAS/8110-3 documents including substantiating analysis and obtain/coordinate sign-off with Airworthiness organization
• Prepare analysis package to support SRM/CMM repair development for submission to the Type Certificate holder
• Direct communication with Airline customers for rapidly development and approval of technical solutions
• Positively interacting in a team environment and have good listening and verbal communication skills
• Represent company in technical review meetings and have excellent customer relations and negotiating skills
• Will communicate and make presentations to internal and external customers and be driven to achieve customer satisfaction
• Mentor other engineers and lead teams in the generation of standard work for repair development
• Work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management personnel
• Serve as the key point of contact for internal and external customers on complex technical issues
