Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer – R&D Digital for its Orthopaedics team. This remote role prefers candidates in Boston, MA, and focuses on guiding technical direction for robotic-enabled joint solutions across cross-functional teams.

The role requires a strong background in system architecture, robotics, and software/controls, with experience in DFMEA, regulatory inputs, and product commercialization support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Familiarity with medical device design controls, verification & validation, and regulations (FDA 510(k)/PMA, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601).
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
• 10+ years of robotics or medical device development experience.

Responsibilities

• Define system architecture and project scope; guide technical direction.
• Lead technical project execution and remove roadblocks.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration among engineering, quality, regulatory, and business teams.
• Communicate project status and key technical decisions to leadership.
• Lead VoC activities and support product launches.
