Job summary

Centific is seeking a highly experienced software engineer to join our Health & Life Sciences team. You will design and build large-scale distributed systems on Azure using C#/.NET, tackling complex legacy and modern codebases with autonomy and rigor.

You will engage with business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions, drive architectural decisions, and own backend services end-to-end, while mentoring peers and advocating engineering excellence in a regulated domain.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (including .NET 6+ / ASP.NET Core).
• Deep experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage, Key Vault, Entra ID).
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, complex environments with large codebases and distributed systems.
• Strong track record of shipping production backend systems at scale.
• Experience in regulated or domain-heavy industries (healthcare, life sciences, finance, or similar).
• Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders; translate between business and engineering contexts.
• Comfort with end-to-end ownership: requirements to deployment and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed systems on Azure using .NET/C#
• Navigate and contribute to complex, legacy and modern codebases with minimal ramp-up time
• Engage directly with business stakeholders to rapidly build domain expertise and translate requirements into technical solutions
• Drive architectural decisions, trade-off analyses, and technical strategy for your area
• Own backend services end-to-end: APIs, data access, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines
• Mentor and unblock other engineers; raise the bar on engineering quality and practices
• Collaborate across organizational boundaries to align technical work with business outcomes
• Identify and resolve systemic issues in production environments, tooling, and development workflows
