Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer VII to serve as a senior technical leader within the Power Delivery & Integration team.

This remote, part-time role provides specialized guidance across distribution, transmission, substations, and grid modernization to support reliable energy delivery. You will mentor teams, collaborate across offices, and influence project outcomes while representing CHA in industry forums and professional organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of progressive engineering experience in power delivery, utility, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in electric distribution, transmission, substations, grid modernization, or energy delivery.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation) and MS Office.
• Strong understanding of standards, design practices, permitting, and utility considerations.
• Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills; able to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
• Active involvement in professional organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical authority across complex power delivery and grid infrastructure projects.
• Advise on advanced engineering challenges in distribution, transmission, substations, and grid modernization.
• Provide expert consultation to help teams and clients develop defensible solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and leaders to plan, scope, and deliver high-profile assignments.
• Mentor engineering staff and lead QA/QC efforts to strengthen technical capabilities.
• Represent CHA through industry involvement and technical presentations as needed.
