CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer VII to serve as a senior technical leader within the Power Delivery & Integration team.

This remote, part-time role provides specialized guidance across distribution, transmission, substations, and grid modernization to support reliable energy delivery. You will mentor teams, collaborate across offices, and influence project outcomes while representing CHA in industry forums and professional organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related engineering field required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of progressive engineering experience in power delivery, utility, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in electric distribution, transmission, substations, grid modernization, or energy delivery.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation) and MS Office.
• Strong understanding of standards, design practices, permitting, and utility considerations.
• Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills; able to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
• Active involvement in professional organizations preferred.

In this remote position, you will provide specialized guidance and strategic insight across electric distribution, transmission, substation, and grid modernization projects that support safe, reliable, and resilient energy delivery.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as a senior technical authority, providing specialized guidance across complex power delivery and grid infrastructure projects
• Advise project teams on advanced engineering challenges involving electric distribution, transmission, substations, and grid modernization
• Provide expert consultation on critical technical issues, helping teams and clients develop practical, defensible solutions
• Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and business leaders to plan, scope, and deliver high-profile assignments
• Mentor engineering staff and share specialized knowledge through peer reviews and QA/QC oversight to strengthen technical capabilities across the organization
• Represent CHA through industry involvement, professional organizations, and technical presentations, as needed

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or a related engineering field required; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 20 years of progressive engineering experience supporting power delivery, utility, or energy infrastructure projects required
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of electric distribution, transmission, substations, grid modernization, or energy delivery
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office
• Expert understanding of applicable engineering standards, design practices, permitting requirements, and utility considerations
• Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary, multi-office teams
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences
• Active participation and leadership in relevant professional or industry organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$81.73 - $88.94

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
