Job summary

Cencora is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design, development, and modernization of our enterprise eCommerce and portal platforms. You will drive architecture, standards, and scalable solutions across APIs, services, and integrations while mentoring teams to deliver secure, high‑performing digital experiences.

You will partner with product, design, cybersecurity, and operations to enable customer, partner, and internal users to achieve seamless interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant enterprise application development.
• 3+ years in a staff, principal, lead, or equivalent senior technical role.
• Strong hands‑on experience building and supporting large‑scale eCommerce, portal, or other customer‑facing web applications.
• Deep knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, event‑driven architecture, distributed systems, and domain‑driven design.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python; experience with front‑end frameworks and modern web app architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud; CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical leader for eCommerce and portal application engineering initiatives.
• Drive engineering strategy and execution for customer‑facing and partner‑facing platforms.
• Translate architectural direction into implementable engineering solutions and development standards.
• Lead complex technical design decisions across applications, services, APIs, and integrations.
• Mentor senior and mid‑level engineers; ensure code quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and technical walkthroughs.
• Champion automated testing, performance testing, and observability; guide CI/CD and IaC practices.
• Ensure reliability, recoverability, and operational supportability of solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX, architects, QA, and DevOps throughout the lifecycle.
