Job summary

Honda South Carolina Manufacturing is seeking a Cost Planning Sr. Principal Engineer to lead category cost optimization, guide engineering teams, and align purchasing and suppliers to deliver competitive value.

The role requires deep technical cost knowledge, extensive leadership experience, and the ability to manage proposals and verification pathways in a fast-paced automotive environment. Onsite with one remote day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Mechatronics etc).
• At least 15 years in product development, cost planning and technical leadership.
• Expertise in cost drivers, design optimization, manufacturability and value.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost optimization discussions across design, cost, purchasing and stakeholders.
• Guide cost engineers on analysis approach, ownership, and timing to meet targets.
• Evaluate cost targets, cost-down proposals and determine implementation path.
• Escalate category issues to higher leadership when needed.
