Job summary

F5 is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer in California to drive the architecture and execution of an AI Security and Delivery Platform. You will design high-performance control and data plane systems, delivering secure, scalable traffic routing for enterprise AI workloads across hybrid cloud environments.

You will lead strategic technology directions, collaborate with leadership, and ensure robust, resilient platform design using Go, C, and Rust within a multi-cloud context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience with architectural leadership in enterprise networking, cloud security, API/gateway infrastructure, or application delivery platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in Go, C, and Rust for high-performance system-level and network software development.
• Deep experience in distributed control plane design, high-performance data plane packet processing, ADCs, reverse proxies, and API management systems.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, multi-cloud infrastructure, and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Understanding of the AI software development lifecycle and enterprise AI security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall architectural vision and long-term technical roadmap for AI security, application delivery, and intelligent traffic routing.
• Architect and lead the implementation of high-throughput, low-latency data plane and distributed control plane systems using Go, C, and Rust.
• Deeply integrate platform infrastructure with the modern AI software development lifecycle, including runtime protection and model serving delivery.
• Lead multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architecture designs utilizing Kubernetes CRDs, ingress controllers, service meshes, and cloud-native networking.
• Partner with executive leadership, product management, and engineering to translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and execution plans.
