Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer for its Rolling Meadows, IL location to drive embedded software in defense systems. The role emphasizes MBSE, DevSecOps, and Agile practices within a team environment focused on mission-critical applications.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software engineering (or 6+ with a Master’s) and a strong background in C++ embedded development on Linux or VxWorks, with US citizenship and an active Secret clearance required to start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline with a minimum of 8+ years of engineering experience, or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar engineering discipline with a minimum of 6+ years of engineering experience or in lieu of degree, an additional 4 years of experience is required.
• Object Oriented Programming in C++
• Experience Developing Embedded Software running Linux or VxWorks Operating Systems
• US Citizenship
• Must have current Active Secret Clearance prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, operates, and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements.
• Apply standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and other technical staff to deliver embedded software solutions.
