Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Senior Principal Electronics Engineer for our Westford, MA R&D facility. You will design analog and digital hardware for new fire alarm products and support existing lines, including embedded systems, power supplies, sensors, and networking.

Onsite three days a week, you will lead hardware development, collaborate with global teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Strong English communication and 12+ years in electronics are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 12+ years in electronics design involving analog, power, audio, or embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of discrete components and circuit design.
• Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
• Ability to work in a global, cross-functional team; transitioning products to manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze analog and digital electronics, including embedded systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring products from concept to production.
• Lead hardware product development with schedule, cost, and performance targets.
• Develop innovative solutions meeting product needs in a collaborative team.
• Lead engineers across electrical and mechanical disciplines on projects.
• Operate at component and system levels, including packaging and system architecture.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and procedures.
• Partner with Product Management to refine requirements.
• Design for relevant regulatory certifications (UL, ULC, CE, FCC).
