Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Huntsville, AL seeks Senior Principal Electrical Engineer or Staff Principal Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for DoD projects. You will lead cable harness design, power analysis, and interconnect diagrams for COTS/GFE equipment while collaborating with production, program management, suppliers, and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering or related STEM degree.
• Minimum 8 years experience (for level 4) or 12 years experience (for level 5) in electrical design engineering.
• Experience supporting designs in production, fabrication and test.
• Experience with product design, integration of subsystems that include network communication (Wired and Wireless), power design and distribution, interconnect diagrams, wire harness/cable design.
• Experience in performance of trade studies to identify components that meet system and subsystem requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, Cameo, AutoCAD, NX, or other industry-standard software frequently used for electrical CAD design.
• Ability to support periodic travel to customer sites in the continental United States.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
• Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design cable harnesses and interconnect diagrams for COTS and GFE equipment.
• Perform power analysis and interconnect design tasks.
• Develop research, design, and tests for electrical components and systems.
• Collaborate with production, program management, and suppliers.
• Support travel to customer sites within the continental United States.
