Job summary

ENERCON is seeking Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineers to join the Nuclear Design Group in a multi-location setup across the United States. The role emphasizes collaboration, design studies, calculations, and hands-on field activities while mentoring junior engineers.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical design background with nuclear or DOE project experience, PE preferred, and the ability to work both independently and within teams. Some remote/hybrid opportunities may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 6+ years designing electrical systems (high voltage, switchgear, motors) for senior roles; 10+ years for principal.
• Experience in power generation, nuclear power, or government projects (DOE).
• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• Strong writing, presentation and communication skills.
• Team-oriented; able to contribute as individual and as part of a team.
• Proficient with Word and Excel; strong documentation skills.
• US Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Approx. 10% travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across disciplines, acting as a bridge between engineering teams.
• Develop design studies, engineering calculations, and project estimates.
• Draft specifications for electrical equipment and evaluate bids.
• Perform essential electrical calculations forming design foundations.
• Travel to project sites, conduct walkdowns, and support installations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and inspire teams towards project success.
