Job summary

ENERCON is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our Nuclear Design Group. You will lead electrical design efforts, mentor engineers, and collaborate across disciplines on complex projects in the US. This role includes Charlotte, NC site involvement and potential nationwide travel.

You’ll develop design studies, perform calculations, draft specifications, evaluate bids, and support field installations while ensuring safety and compliance with nuclear and DOE standards.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years design experience in electrical systems (high voltage, switchgear, motor controls) for senior level; 10+ years for principal.
• Experience in power generation, nuclear, or government DOE projects.
• PE preferred; strong writing and presentation skills; able to work in teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Bridge engineering teams for seamless integration across project disciplines.
• Shape Project Success: Develop design studies, define scopes, and prepare engineering estimates.
• Master Procurement & Installation: Draft specifications, evaluate bids, and select top-tier solutions.
• Perform Precision Calculations: Execute essential electrical calculations for designs and installations.
• Think Creatively: Bring innovative solutions to solve complex technical challenges.
• Be Hands-On in the Field: Travel to project sites, conduct site walkdowns, oversee installations and start-up activities.
• Lead and Inspire Teams: Foster a positive, goal-oriented environment and empower teams.
