Job summary

ENERCON is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our Nuclear Design Group. The role offers multiple full-time locations across the United States, including Birmingham, AL, Huntsville, AL, Chattanooga, TN, and others.

You will lead design efforts, mentor staff, and contribute to cutting-edge nuclear projects. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, perform design calculations, and participate in procurement and field activities while traveling ~10% to project

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
6+ years designing electrical systems (high voltage, switchgear, motor controls) for Senior level; 10+ years for Principal.
Experience in power generation, nuclear power, or DOE-related projects.
PE preferred but not required.
Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to contribute individually and work well in teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs.
Develop innovative design studies, define project scopes, and create engineering estimates.
Draft detailed specifications for electrical equipment, evaluate bids, and select solutions.
Perform essential electrical calculations forming the basis of designs and installations.
Bring creative solutions to complex technical challenges and drive projects forward.
Travel to project sites, conduct walkdowns, oversee installations, and support start-up activities.
Lead and inspire teams to achieve project goals and foster a positive work environment.
