Job summary

Hiscox USA is seeking a Senior Pricing Analyst to join a collaborative actuarial pricing team. The role supports pricing across multiple specialty lines, partnering with Product, Underwriting, and Distribution to develop sustainable rate strategies.

You will design rating plans, prepare filings, monitor outcomes, and build pricing tools with SQL and analytics to provide pricing insights for leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of P&C actuarial pricing experience, preferably in small business commercial/personal lines.
• 5+ CAS exams passed; bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or related field.
• Hands-on experience preparing and managing rate filings and handling DOI objections.
• SQL proficiency; working knowledge of Python, R, or VBA.

Responsibilities

• Design pricing frameworks for new products, including rating variables, base rates, relativities, and tiering for small business risks.
• Prepare state filings, memoranda, and exhibits for new product approvals; monitor early performance and adjust as needed.
• Create and maintain rate change processes, including indications, reviews, and filings; analyze competition and impacts.
• Collaborate with IT to update raters and policy systems; support QA/UAT and track post-change impacts on premium and mix.
• Conduct profitability reviews by product, class, segment, and portfolio; translate findings into pricing and underwriting actions.
• Partner with Product, Underwriting, and Distribution on segment-level pricing strategy and annual planning.
• Monitor market indicators and regulatory developments and assess implications for the book.
• Develop data tools and dashboards to accelerate pricing insights for stakeholders.
• Apply actuarial methods (GLMs and multivariate techniques) and contribute to model governance and documentation.
• Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
