Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Senior Burn Crew Member to lead and participate in prescribed fire operations across Central Florida restoration sites. The role oversees staff and volunteers, maintains equipment, and conducts pre- and post-burn monitoring.

It also supports other land management duties when conditions limit prescribed fire activity. Candidates should have FFT2 qualification with two seasons’ experience, be able to operate a range of equipment, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• FFT2 qualification including I-100, L-180, S-190, S-130 per TNC Fire Management Manual.
• Two seasons as a qualified FFT2 or agency equivalent.
• Must achieve Arduous pack test fitness standards as determined by local Fire Program Manager.
• Experience operating equipment (T6 engines, UTVs, ATVs, chainsaws, etc.).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fire lines and monitor during prescribed burns.
• Oversee staff and volunteers in burn operations.
• Maintain equipment and records of work time and expenses.
• Contribute to post-burn monitoring and land management tasks.
• Work in collaboration with local fire departments and agencies.
