The Nature Conservancy in Central Florida is seeking a Senior Burn Crew Member to lead and perform prescribed fire operations, supervising staff and volunteers during ignition, control, mop-up, and monitoring.

The role emphasizes staying current with burn techniques, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with local fire departments and agencies; lodging is provided at Disney Wilderness Preserve or Tiger Creek Preserve.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• FFT2 certification and ICS I-100 training are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fire lines and maintain equipment.
• Pre-burn and post-burn monitoring.
• Supervise staff and volunteers on prescribed fire tasks.
• Oversee operations and ensure safety on remote sites.
• Record work time and reports; maintain records.
• Operate 4x4 trucks and power tools.
