Job summary

RR Donnelley in California is seeking an experienced printing/plate-making specialist to review client files, prepare layouts for plate making, and coordinate with Customer Service and production to ensure accurate, on-time delivery.

The role requires strong color management, extensive Mac experience, and familiarity with Kodak Prinergy and Adobe Creative Suite on Mac/PC. Applicants should be adept at problem solving and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years Mac experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Process color experience is required. Color correction and proofing experience a plus.
• Process color and reproduction experience is a must.
• Color management experience a plus.
• Variable data creation and editing skills.
• Must be able to work with various graphic design and layout software applications on Mac and PC.
• Two to Three years of Kodak Prinergy experience.
• Understanding of digital file formats from Mac and PC required.
• Experience with imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC) preferred.
• Advanced color management skills and ability to work with different digital file formats.

Responsibilities

• Review client electronic files for completeness before plate making.
• Use desktop publishing software to format print jobs to paper size.
• Determine page layout with folds, trims, bleeds and crop marks.
• Identify missing components and communicate with Customer Service and production.
• Collaborate with Customer Service, client, and production to resolve issues.
• Load client files for output during manufacturing.
• May prepare color proofs for client review.
• May imprint images and operate CTP plate-making and tabbing equipment.
• Perform quality checks on finished plates before release to manufacturing.
