The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience editing for national brands, strong Adobe CC skills, and the ability to craft engaging, emotionally resonant narratives under tight deadlines. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with short-form nonlinear editing across platforms.
• Proficiency in Adobe CC (Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder), Dolby 5.1 audio, and producing high-priority brand content.
• Exceptional short-form storyteller with expertise in the medium and current editing platform capabilities.
• Agency experience is preferred.
• Candidates must live within commuting distance of the Washington, D.C. office and onsite four days per week.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, create and edit engaging social media content for all National Geographic platforms.
• Organize direct shoots, collaborating with cross-functional teams to coordinate stories and brand initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal departments to troubleshoot media assets and perform edits.
• Create project backups and archive projects after completion.
• Lead shoots as senior producer and coordinate crews and on-camera talent.
• Monitor real-time audience analytics to optimize performance and reach.
