Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to oversee construction projects from award through mobilization. The role may be hybrid with in-office work in San Diego, CA or remote to start with regular in-office work in Denver, CO.

Specific location details will be discussed in the interview process. The successful candidate will manage budgets, schedules and subcontractor relationships, while coordinating with Safety, QAQC and Estimating teams to ensure timely buyout,

Qualifications

• Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent experience
• Field construction management experience (8-10 years, including supervisory skills)
• Leadership ability
• Problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
• Organizational and communication skills
• Drafting and computer skills
• Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
• Thorough understanding of all project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating)

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple or large, complex projects
• Estimate and establish budgets and contract price (GMP/Lump Sum)
• Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases
• Set up and implement job procedures and techniques to assure timely buyout, shop drawing approval and material delivery
• Keep project on schedule
• Develop and maintain good relationship with Owner, Engineers and Subcontractors
• Work with Safety Department and Superintendent to develop safety plans and to implement safety procedures
• Work with Quality Department and Superintendent to develop QAQC Plan
• Maintain timely and accurate reporting to management
• Manage, train, and supervise project team according to Company policy
• Organize regular meetings for management and subcontractors
• Review and negotiate contract conditions; ensure compliance with all contract terms
• Supervise documentation of all significant project events, e.g., accidents, delays, Change Orders
• Direct preconstruction services and activities
• Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontract bid packages
• Assist with business development and participate in job interviews
• Support estimating staff (bid item specialist)
• Avoid or mitigate claims and conflict
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned
