Job summary

PCL, a leading construction company in Glendale, CA, invites an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join our team. You will guide pursuits, contribute to estimates, and help shape proposals with senior colleagues, delivering value on complex projects.

You will lead design reviews, coordinate across disciplines, mentor project teams, ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence, and support client engagements from concept through completion.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive construction experience with multiple contract delivery types.
• 2–5 years as construction manager leading projects and mentoring teams.
• 12–24 months of estimating or related experience.
• Expert knowledge of safety and environmental principles, procedures, and legislation.
• Experience with diverse project types, delivery methods, and scheduling.
• Knowledge of construction laws and building codes and application thereof.
• Experience leading meetings with clients, consultants, and internal staff; presenting to clients.
• Ability to identify opportunities and mitigate risks on complex projects.
• Experience establishing, implementing, and monitoring cost and change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead pursuit and preconstruction activities to contribute to estimate, proposal, and/or presentation.
• Provide overall leadership and support for several small projects or one very large project with high complexity.
• Oversee the development and implementation of a quality management plan and quality culture with stakeholder buy-in.
• Manage design reviews and resolve design-team concerns regarding compliance, scope, cost, and coordination.
• Monitor and coordinate design documentation reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Oversee progress payments to clients and trade contractors and monitor progress.
• Supervise, direct, train, and mentor project teams across sites.
• Ensure site inspections, witness commissioning, and sign-off on systems.
