Job summary

Monteith Construction in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating from start to finish on commercial projects across North and South Carolina, with travel as needed and experience with estimates above $2 million.

You will read plans, generate takeoffs, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors while using Planswift, iSqFt, Bluebeam and Excel to build accurate cost data.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction management or estimating; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field strongly preferred.
• Ability to build relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work independently.
• Experience with electronic take-off and estimating software; Planswift, iSqFt, Bluebeam preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Willingness to travel (NC/SC).

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and accurate material take-offs.
• Read and interpret plans, specs, and addenda.
• Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures.
• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope of work.
• Prepare estimates by calculating takeoffs for multiple scopes.
• Develop conceptual estimates and price work.
• Coordinate total estimating effort for bids/projects.
• Maintain working documents as backup for estimates.
