Job summary

Big-D Construction in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a dynamic Preconstruction Manager to lead preconstruction efforts on commercial projects, from concept through GMP or bid. You will coordinate estimating, design, and scheduling with clients and design teams, driving risk management and strong relationships.

The role requires guiding multi-project teams, engaging subcontractors early, and delivering key preconstruction deliverables while shaping project strategy and ensuring constructability

Qualifications

• Experience leading preconstruction on commercial projects from concept through GMP or bid.
• Strong understanding of estimating, scheduling, and design coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
• Proven ability to communicate with clients, design teams, and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate project risks early.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction teams with clear expectations and project strategy.
• Plan and manage preconstruction efforts, including milestones and reviews.
• Develop and manage project schedules aligned with design, estimating, procurement, and construction.
• Oversee estimating efforts, ensure pricing clarity and alignment with scope.
• Support subcontractor engagement, prequalification, and bid participation.
• Guide design development and address constructability and cost risks.
• Lead client meetings, communicate progress, and build relationships.
• Coordinate with stakeholders on permits, utilities, and early requirements.
• Deliver preconstruction deliverables such as estimates and GMP documents.
• Mentor preconstruction and estimating team members, support turnover.
