Job summary

Big-D Construction seeks a Senior Estimator to join our preconstruction team in Tempe or Salt Lake City. The role focuses on developing accurate, well-organized estimates for concrete scopes and coordinating with subcontractors and the design team.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or related field and 5+ years of estimating experience in construction, with preference for earthwork and Utah/Arizona market knowledge. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or similar field.
• Five+ years of experience as an estimator in construction.
• Experience with excavation or earthwork preferred.
• Knowledge of subcontractor networks in Utah/Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Define work scope and select subcontractors with Senior Estimator guidance.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and consider relationships when bidding.
• Proficient in quantity takeoffs and organizing estimates in Timberline.
• Lead hard-bid projects and structure scopes of work for bidday.
• Develop conceptual estimates in Timberline through CM processes.
• Interpret CPM schedules and translate into construction budgets.
• Understand labor productivity rates and unit costs for materials.
• Participate in forecast meetings and monitor budget vs. actual costs.
• Support Big-D’s mission and policies.
