Job summary

Clayco is actively seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer to drive bidding processes for diverse construction projects across multiple sectors. You will craft precise conceptual and hard dollar estimates, develop proposals, and manage subcontractor bids, ensuring accuracy of all project documents.

You will perform quantity take-offs, conduct constructability reviews, and apply value engineering analyses to shape departmental strategies and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 3–5 years estimating experience in commercial construction with strong bidding track record.
• Deep understanding of building construction, materials, systems, and market conditions.
• Proficiency in estimating and quantity takeoff software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience participating in Preconstruction meetings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Preconstruction team to deliver accurate proposals across Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Residential sectors.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs to support accurate estimating.
• Oversee subcontractor bid solicitation and maintain master list of subcontractors/vendors.
• Prepare and analyze Bid Evaluation sheets for competitive bidding.
• Evaluate project schedules, draft General Conditions, and assemble final estimates for owners.
