Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer to drive bidding for commercial projects, crafting precise estimates, developing proposals, and managing subcontractor bids to support competitive, on-time outcomes.

You will perform quantity take-offs, evaluate schedules, draft general conditions, and hand off estimates to Project Management, while contributing to value engineering and continuous improvement across the Preconstruction team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM/CE/Architecture or related field.
• 3–5 years estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency with estimating and quantity takeoff software.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Preconstruction team to deliver accurate proposals across business units.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs to support estimating.
• Oversee subcontractor bid solicitation and maintain vendors list.
• Prepare and analyze Bid Evaluation sheets.
• Evaluate schedules, draft General Conditions, and assemble estimates for owners.
• Handoff estimates and drawings to Project Management; assist with negotiations.
• Develop and maintain historical data on unit prices.
