Clayco is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer in Greenville, SC to drive bidding and takeoffs for commercial projects. You will craft precise estimates, develop compelling proposals, and manage subcontractor bids across multiple sectors, ensuring accuracy and timely handoffs to Project Management.

The role requires 3–5 years of estimating experience, strong math and analytical skills, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction-related field.
• 3–5 years estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency in estimating and quantity takeoff software.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Experience with preconstruction meetings.

Responsibilities

• Proposal preparation: deliver accurate proposals across Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Residential sectors.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for scopes of work.
• Oversee subcontractor bids and maintain master list of subcontractors/vendors.
• Prepare and analyze Bid Evaluation sheets for competitive bidding.
• Review project schedules and assist in drafting General Conditions and final estimate assembly.
• Facilitate handoff of estimates and drawings to Project Management; assist with negotiations and change orders.
• Develop and maintain historical data on unit prices.
