Job summary

Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer in Milpitas, CA, joining KLA's Central Engineering team. You will design high-precision, multi-axis motion systems for wafer scanning with nanometer accuracy, driving fast, reliable electro-mechanical solutions.

Collaborate across controls, systems, and manufacturing; lead design reviews; develop tests and prototypes; and ensure manufacturability and quality in production.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with motion systems experience.
• Proficient in Creo/SolidWorks with 3D CAD experience.
• Strong structural, thermal, and vibration FEA experience.
• DFM with machining, sheet metals, and castings.
• Knowledge of Python or Matlab for data analysis.
• Experience with high-precision positioning stages and encoders/optics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop concept, details, and iterate on design to optimize performance.
• Present design reviews, procure prototypes, and oversee vendors for parts and assemblies.
• Create test plans, drive prototype testing, system integration, & stage servo tuning to qualify stages.
• Develop procedures for assembly of various systems to ensure manufacturing handoff.
• Design parts and assemblies using Creo/SolidWorks; generate drawings with GD&T for wafer stages and tooling.
• Perform analyses such as structural, thermal, vibration/FEA to optimize components and assemblies.
