Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston seeks a Senior Practice Manager to lead one or more multidisciplinary medical practices and ensure high-quality patient care and service. You will work with Area Medical Directors to support staffing, budgets, policy implementation and staff development.

Responsibilities include personnel management, liaison with clinical departments and hospital programs, budget oversight, project coordination, and ensuring efficient practice operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or equivalent in related field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in health care setting with supervisory experience.
• Masters degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
• Five (5) years experience in health care, preferably in an outpatient setting, with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Defines non-clinical personnel requirements and position competencies for the practice with the management team.
• Monitors staffing levels and adjusts to meet care and financial objectives.
• Interviews, hires and orients non-clinical personnel with the practice management team.
• Evaluates performance and takes corrective action as appropriate.
• Represents the clinical practice in groups and with other UTMB components.
• Develops/modifies budgets under UT-MED guidance and monitors revenues and expenses.
• Ensures information supports billing functions.
• Maintains a physical presence and investigates opportunities for improvement in practice operations.
• Leads in policy implementation and staff development.
• Coordinates projects across departments and communicates progress to senior management.
• Ensures effective patient flow, resolves operational issues and supports service delivery.
• Identifies safety issues and ensures staff training in safety and infection control.
• Assists in developing medical office policies and procedures.
• Participates in continuing education and shares knowledge with colleagues.
• Performs related duties and supports internal controls and compliance.
