Job summary

Harbinger Motors in Garden Grove, CA, is seeking a Senior Powertrain Test Engineer to drive system-level testing of electric powertrain components and software integration. You will build robust test rigs, develop automated test software, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve measurement and validation.

The role emphasizes high-voltage EV powertrains, dynamometers, HIL systems, data analysis, and repeatable, safe testing practices in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience in validation testing and system integration (mechanical, electrical, and software).
• Experience with NI hardware (PXIe-RT, cRIO, cDAQ) and coding with real-time and FPGA modules.
• Deep understanding of dynamometer operating principles and high-voltage EV powertrain test cell layouts.
• Proficiency in software development and scripting for automation.
• Ability to write drivers for NI-XNET (CAN/LIN), NI-VISA Serial (RS232/RS485) and TCP/IP (Modbus/SCPI).
• Knowledge of electric motors and inverters.
• Familiarity with electronics test equipment and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute component and system-level development and validation testing of electric motors and drive units in the lab.
• Maximize testing efficiency and data integrity through test automation and software development.
• Design and build electrical control panels for automated test systems.
• Develop and maintain automated test software using LabVIEW or equivalent environments.
• Analyze data to reproduce and characterize failures for rapid issue resolution.
• Design dynamometers and HIL systems for development testing of advanced projects.
• Document system designs, schematics, software logic, and test procedures.
