Job summary

Lucid Motors in Newark, CA is seeking a Senior Engineer to validate powertrain controls across SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments, owning validation strategy and issue resolution. You will work with Controls, Systems, Software, Calibration, and Vehicle Engineering teams to ensure robust control solutions and comprehensive validation coverage.

The role requires strong fundamentals in control systems and vehicle dynamics, plus 4+ years of embedded automotive validation experience, including CAN

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in control systems and vehicle dynamics.
• 4+ years validating embedded automotive control systems (SIL/HIL/vehicle).
• Experience interpreting requirements, state machines, interfaces, and architecture.
• CAN and automotive communication signals experience.
• Ability to structure investigations and drive to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own validation activities for powertrain, vehicle motion control, and chassis control across SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments.
• Develop validation strategies from requirements and architecture; address failure modes.
• Validate control functionality under nominal, boundary, transient, degraded, and fault conditions.
• Investigate system-level issues, linking vehicle behavior to controls, software, calibration, and sensors.
• Collaborate with Controls, Systems, Software, Calibration, and Vehicle Engineering teams.
• Identify gaps in requirements, interfaces, diagnostics, and validation coverage.
• Develop repeatable test methodologies while maintaining engineering judgment.
