Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a senior specialist to lead research, design, and validation of power system technologies. You will analyze grid data, contribute to secure architectures, and develop time-synchronized measurement platforms.

Qualifications

BS/BA with 7+ years, or MS/MA with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in power systems grid data analysis.
Preferred field deployment experience with time-synchronized measurement platforms.
Knowledge of SCADA and grid communications; familiarity with cybersecurity implications.
Awareness of inverter-based resources, power electronics, and grid-forming control concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead tasks and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to research, design, modeling, integration, and field validation of power system technologies.
Analyze power systems, including protection, stability, reliability, and operational characteristics.
Develop algorithms and platforms for time synchronized measurements in power systems.
Select components and equipment based on technical specifications, reliability, and system-level requirements.
Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams; communicate progress to sponsors and stakeholders.
