Job summary

Group CBS in Ashland, KY, is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to perform testing, maintenance, commissioning, and repair of electrical power equipment at customer sites. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, read schematics, and provide accurate documentation of work performed.

The role requires up to date NETA certification or the ability to obtain Level III/IV, eight or more years of experience, and strong knowledge of power systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NETA certification or ability to obtain NETA Level III or IV.
• Eight or more years of electrical testing and maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and testing procedures.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E, OSHA, DOT and related standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and technical reporting systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs on electrical power equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in substations and power systems.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Complete service reports, testing documentation, and customer deliverables.
• Support emergency response work and customer outage situations as needed.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Support planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
• Lead safety meetings, training sessions, and job briefings.
• Establish lockout/tagout procedures and ensure safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with company, customer, and industry safety standards.
