Job summary

MISO is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in Carmel, Indiana to analyze the Bulk Electric System, build EMS/PSSE models for near-term and long-term analysis, and run power-flow and contingency studies to assure grid reliability.

You will identify outages, coordinate outage activities with stakeholders, and lead automation and process-improvement efforts while collaborating with Real-time Operations, Market Operations, and Transmission Planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Experience with EMS/PSSE and power-flow tools preferred.
• Strong understanding of power-system fundamentals and grid reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis.
• Run power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses.
• Identify outage-driven congestions and mitigation options for grid reliability.
• Make decisions to approve, reschedule, or deny outage works based on analysis.
• Coordinate outages with stakeholders on best practices and timeliness.
• Lead automation projects and process-improvement efforts in a changing power system space.
• Collaborate with Real-time Operations, Market Operations, Transmission Planning, and others to ensure reliability and efficiency.
