Job summary

Electric Power Engineers is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to perform transmission planning studies including steady state, short circuit and dynamic stability analyses. You will use PSS/E, PSCAD, ASPEN and TARA, and collaborate with clients across a remote US/Canada setting.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 2–4+ years of experience, with strong communication, mentoring, and leadership abilities. Health benefits, PTO, 401K, and flexible work options are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 2–4+ years of experience in power systems engineering.
  • Experience with power system studies: dynamic stability, load flow, steady state, short circuit.
  • Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, ASPEN, and TARA.
  • Python programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to leverage AI/automation to improve quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-level bulk power system impact studies (steady state, short circuit, dynamic stability).
  • Utilize power system software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, ASPEN, and TARA.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects meeting quality and budget objectives.
  • Interact with clients to gather input and address needs.
  • Lead and mentor engineers in power system analyses.
  • Develop mitigation plans for identified constraints.
  • Review transmission planning study methodologies and processes.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to increase efficiency.
  • Support business development activities.
